ضرب زلزال قوي جنوب تايوان في وقت مبكر من أمس مما أدى لانهيار جزء من مبنى واحد على الأقل إلى جانب أضرار أخرى، ولم ترد تقارير على الفور عن وقوع وفيات أو إصابات خطيرة.
قالت هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأميركية إن قوة الزلزال بلغت 6.4 درجة على مقياس ريختر، وإن مركزه على بعد 43 كيلومترا إلى الجنوب الشرقي من مدينة تاينان التي يسكنها مليونا شخص تقريبا.
